Kitkat Battery Issues Resolved

It was easy. You google up the matter, and you get reminded you reset your phone like the last time Android sent you an updated version of the operating system.

There was resetting the phone, which also freed up a lot of space on my 8 GB phone. And then there was turning off a Google+ feature. Now photos on my phone only get uploaded online when the phone is on wifi and when the phone is connected to a charger.

The auto upload feature is why Google+ is my top choice for photo upload and sharing. But that was also draining my battery.

Now my phone feels more normal. So much so that I still want a OnePlus One phone, but I am not in a desperate hurry.

My external battery clocks at 10,000 mAh. That is what I carry. So it is like carrying two phones. But it's worth it for the peace of mind that my phone will quite literally never run out of juice during the course of the day. When your smartphone is your personal assistant, you tend to use it with some intensity.

I am thinking a 5,000 mAh inside a phone might finally do the trick.

Another reason not to be in a big hurry for the One is the idea of actually being with people when you are with them. Face time is also good for the phone battery.

A 12 Inch Tablet?

That feels unreasonably big. Unless they have managed to make it substantially lighter. A plus would be being able to use a keyboard without losing most of the screen. But weight is a major factor.

Samsung readying 11.8-inch tablet with 'retina' display, say court documents

This might be the big screen wall TV version of a tablet, great for video viewing. It might even be designed to hang on the wall.

Apple's Surprise Enterprise Entries

Image representing Apple as depicted in CrunchBase

Good Technology: iPad, iPhone dominating enterprise markets
While smartphone activations outnumber tablet new-installs by around three to one, Apple continues to dominate in the corporate tablet space, crushing all competition. ..... more than 80 percent of American employees continue business-related communication from their mobile devices after they have left the office. The amount of usage averages seven hours per week -- adding up to more than a month and a half of (typically unpaid) overtime per year. ...... top ten devices activated in the second quarter of 2012 are led by the iPhone 4S, followed by the iPad 3, iPhone 4, iPad 2, the Samsung Galaxy S II, Motorola Droid Razr, iPad, iPhone 3GS, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and the Samsung Galaxy Note. ..... Windows Phone 7.5 accounted for 1.2 percent of the total smartphone activations, with Apple holding 70.8 percent and Android gaining ground to 28 percent...... The financial services industry leads mobile device activations .... the "bring your own device" movement in information technology.
Steve Jobs was all about the consumer space. But then there are unintended consequences. You build factories. You end up polluting rivers. Only I think the smartphone, tablet penetration of the enterprise is a good thing, though inevitable. It was only a matter of time.

Android Tablet, Phone

By now Android is no longer playing second place to the iOS in either the smartphone space or the tablet space. Nexus 7 has been a major arrival. Before that Amazon's Kindle Fire was the best product in the space running Android, but it was not Google's version of Android, and so it did not count for a win in Google's lap.

The Nexus 7 and the Samsung Galaxy S III have exceeded their Apple counterparts. Who is playing catch up now?

Google halts new orders for 16GB Nexus 7, surprised by demand
sales of the Nexus 7 have been "extremely brisk"
Samsung’s Galaxy S III surpasses 10 million sales in less than two months
By the end of the month, the device will be on sale via 296 carriers in 145 countries worldwide...... it and predecessor the Galaxy S, have together passed 50 million sales across the planet..... Samsung now counts itself as the biggest smartphone manufacturer in the world ..... an August launch for its next-generation Galaxy Note

My First Smartphone: What's It Going To Be?

Might buy my first smartphone. Which Android phone to buy?less than a minute ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply

It is going to be an Android. But which one? Google buying Motorala makes it even more confusing. Some of the thoughts I am having: 4G, large screen. By now I am no longer thinking Nexus.
